Substance abuse and mental illness causes a lack in focusing and achieving the daily living skills necessary for a person to lead productive life in their community. Engaging Minds will educate and assist in implementing these skills, such as, self-care, personal hygiene, employment, and social and interpersonal interactions and relationships.

Engaging Mind clients shall meet the medical necessity criteria based upon the Multidimensional Assessment completed by an addiction treatment professional as defined in DMAS ARTS manual.
Eligible service recipients may have a dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance abuse disorder. Link treatment for both disorders is allowed within Intensive Outpatient as long as the treatment for the substance abuse condition is intended to positively impact the mental health condition.
